RUN Window: Run commands are used in the RUN window or run box. Run command is used to directly open an application or document whose address is known. It functions more or less than like a single line command line interface.
RUN is introduced from Windows 95 and after that it comes with all version of windows operating system like (Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8./8.1 and Windows 10). By using run command we can open a program, open a web page, navigate to a location etc.
How To Open Run Window
we can open the RUN window by the following 4 process
By using keyboard shortcuts
By search
From the start menu or apps view
From power user menu
#1. Keyboard Shortcut To Open Run Command Line Interface
Keyboard Shortcut For RUN Window: Just press Window Key + R simultaneously from the keyboard, Run window will appear on the bottom left corner. This method works on all version of windows starting from Windows 95 to Windows 10.
#2. Open Run Window From Start Search
For windows operating system, search is a great idea to find any program, if we don’t know the actual location of the program. Below are the process to open run window using search in different version of Windows OS.
RUN Command In Windows 10: If you are using windows 10, then just type “run” (without quotes) inside the Cortana’s search box and click on Run on the search result.
Run Command In Windows 8.1/8: If you are using windows 8 or windows 8.1 then just go to the start screen and type “run” without quotes. Then click on Run on the search result.
Run Command In Windows 7: If you are using windows 7, then click on the start button and then type “run” in start menu search box. Then click on Run in the search result.
#3. Open Run Window From The Start Menu or Apps View
We can also open the run window from the program list. below are the process about how can we open the run window from all the istalled program list.
Windows 10 users click on the start button to open the start menu. Then go to All Apps – Windows System – Run. It will open the run command box.
Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 users open the apps view. Go to the list of apps and on Windows system you will get the run box.
Windows 7 users open the start menu. Then go to All programs – Accessories – Run.
#4. Open Run Window From Power User Menu
Power user menu comes only in windows 8, windows 8.1 and windows 10. So the process is only valid in Windows 10~8 OS. Press the Windows Key + X
simultaneously to open the power user menu and then click on Run to open the run box.
Benefits of Run Command (What Can We Do from Run Box)
We can do several things from the run window. such as
Program: we can open a program by typing the full path of the program.
system setting and other program: we can also open the system setting and other default apps by a small command line. (E.g. appwiz.cpl command is used to open control panel)
Explorer Window: we can also go to a particular location by typing the path in the run command box
Web page: By typing the web address, we can go to that particular webpage using the default web browser from the Run box.ମିହୀର
